Histon suffer defeat on the road at Wellingborough Town ahead of quickfire Easter fixtures

Histon have now slipped to back-to-back defeats in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South after Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Wellingborough Town.

The Stutes had been one of the division’s form teams since the turn of the year, racking up a nine-match unbeaten run prior to the previous weekend’s defeat to league-leading Coventry Sphinx.

And it is now two defeats on the bounce for Lance Key’s men, who remain sixth in the table.

Third-placed Wellingborough broke the deadlock just before hour mark at London Road when Thomas Iaciofano kept his cool to fire past Sam Roach from the penalty spot.

The hosts went on to make sure of the outcome two minutes from time as Nehemiah Richard-Noel rose highest to head in from fellow substitute Vikram Mazumbar’s cross.

Histon will aim to get back on track over the Easter weekend with two quickfire matches at home against seventh-placed Coventry United on Saturday (April 8), which is followed on Monday (April 10) by a short trip to 13th-placed Eynesbury Rovers.
