Histon’s winless run of form stretches to eight matches after United Counties League Premier Division South defeat to Leicester Nirvana
Histon’s disappointing end to the 2024/25 season continued with a 2-1 defeat at Leicester Nirvana at the weekend.
It was not too long ago that the Stutes harboured genuine hopes of forcing their way into the United Counties League Premier Division South play-offs.
However, a sequence of seven outings without a victory (eight in all competitions) has seen Chris Nunn’s men slip down to 11th in the table, 13 points adrift of the top five with just four fixtures remaining.
Histon started brightly against in-form Nirvana at Hamilton Park and they broke the deadlock after just four minutes when Connor Barnes played in Pharrell Anderson, who made no mistake with the finish.
However, the home side drew level before the break courtesy of a Mussa Bham free-kick that found the bottom corner.
And it was the same player that went on to score the match-winning goal 10 minutes from time with a strike at the back post.
Histon will aim to record their first league win since 8 February on Saturday (5 April) when they welcome G.N.G Oadby Town to Bridge Road.
Oadby head into the encounter in the relegation zone with a one-point deficit to safety.
