Tess Howard completes comeback with Team England call for Commonwealth Games
Tess Howard will be representing Team England at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer.
The former Cambridge City Hockey Club member has been selected in an 18-strong squad having battled back from an ACL injury that ruled her out of last year’s Tokyo Olympics.
It has been confirmed for three major events this summer; the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup in the Netherlands and Spain, the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the EuroHockey Championship Qualifiers in Durham.
“It gives me goosebumps!” said former Perse School student Howard, on the prospect of competing at Birmingham.
“To compete in front of a home crowd, after the last two years and everything that everyone in this country has been through it’s going to be amazing. Having the support around us, friends, family and that crowd support, it’s going to be super inspiring to run out on the pitch and see the flags waving – it’s going to be something very special.”
The Commonwealth Games hockey runs from July 30 to August 7.
