Tim Bitirim will bring international sevens experience to Cambridge Rugby Club after becoming their latest summer signing.

The 22-year-old utility back joins from Loughborough Students and, despite his young age, has already had a wealth of experience.

Bitirim is a pacy and intelligent player who is expected to add even more competition to Cambridge’s back three and midfield, and was capped by England sevens last season, having previously appeared for the Ireland Wolfhounds sevens and Apache sevens.

The former Saracens EPDG and Wasps academy player is already well known to Cambridge head coach Richie Williams.

“I had the pleasure of working with Tim back in 2016 when we toured Russia with the England Counties under-20s,” said Williams. “Since then, he has continued his development at Loughborough whilst representing the students and also Leicester Tigers and Wasps at A team level.

"He has X-Factor and is one of the best counter-attackers I have coached.”

Bitirim said: "I am looking forward to joining Cambridge and especially working with Richie again, who I know well as he coached me when I was younger at England Counties.

“Hopefully I can add value to the squad and help the team succeed. I am looking forward to playing more regularly, enjoying my rugby and finishing my degree alongside it.”
