Cambridge United striker Shayne Lavery set to miss next ‘10 weeks’ with another hamstring injury
Cambridge United striker Shayne Lavery is set for another extended spell on the sidelines.
The summer signing from Blackpool, who has scored four goals this term, missed eight League One matches between mid-September and mid-November with a hamstring injury.
And the Northern Ireland international is now expected to be out for a similar length of time after suffering a recurrence in training.
Speaking after today’s 2-1 defeat at Charlton Athletic, head coach Garry Monk said: “It’s an injury unfortunately for us – a big blow. Shayne pulled his hamstring in training and it doesn’t look good.
“I think it’s going to be another 10-week type of one. It’s a huge blow for Shayne and huge blow for us.
“We’ve had to deal with this throughout the season so it’s another case of us getting on with it and making the best of it.
“We’ve got to use it as motivation to try and do what we’ve got to do on the football pitch.”
