Cambridge United leave it late to claim maximum points from clash against London Seaward

After starting the new season with three straight defeats, Cambridge United have now put back-to-back wins on the board following Sunday’s 4-1 triumph at London Seaward.

The U’s made the breakthrough in the 14th minute when Samantha Edgar’s header was turned in by Emma Wallis.

However, the hosts equalised with 26 minutes on the clock and the scoreline remained locked at a goal apiece heading into the half-time break.

And the parity continued until the 75th minute when United’s Isabella Simmons, who scored four goals the previous weekend, applied the finishing touch from close range to restore her side’s lead.

Within two minutes the creator of the visitors’ first twos goal – Edgar – turned scorer with an effort from the edge of the area before the victory was sealed eight minutes from time by Rosy Woodhams.

United will go in search of a third win on the bounce on Sunday (15 September) away at bottom-of-the-table Ashford Town (Middlesex).

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that United’s home fixture against Dulwich Hamlet a week later on 22 September will be played at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.

Tickets can be purchased for the fixture via the Cambridge United website.
