Cambridge United boss Neil Harris previews Burton Albion trip with side potentially already relegated from League One if Bristol Rovers beat Reading

In this day and age it will be nigh on impossible for Neil Harris and his Cambridge United players to avoid learning if they have been relegated from League One before Saturday’s clash away at Burton Albion.

If Bristol Rovers get the better of Reading during their lunchtime encounter, the U's, who are currently five points from safety with only two games to go, will run out at the Pirelli Stadium with their fate already sealed.

And it is a situation that Harris has conceded that his squad will have to deal with.

He said: “We can only play the cards that we're dealt – Bristol Rovers kick off at 12.30pm, we kick off at 3pm. It's the same for Burton, the same for Crawley, and at the top of the division as well for teams.

“So we have to just go with it. We owe a lot to Sky for entertaining us and paying a lot of the wages in the football industry. These are the ones that dictate TV revenue and interest from people sitting at home.

“We accept and understand that. It's not ideal for us and probably not ideal for Burton either, playing in the moment. But it is what it is, so we have to get on with it.

“It could be a very awkward situation, come half-past two, for us to have to deal with, but we know we'll deal with that as we go.

“We can't control or affect that. What we can affect is preparing for the game diligently, making sure we're as fit as possible and prepared as possible – which we will be.”

In terms of team news, Dan Nlundulu could return to the squad following a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury but Scott Malone has been ruled out.
