Zaheer Hussain produced a dominant all-round display as Cambridge St Giles beat Histon
Zaheer Hussain delivered an all-round display to give Cambridge St Giles a four-wicket win over Histon in Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division One.
Histon won the toss and elected to bat, and two big partnerships helped them build a score.
Hari Krishna Kukreja (33) and Ed Hyde put on 67 for the second wicket, then Hyde (82) and Will Brown (47) combined for the third wicket in a stand of 94.
But they went from 177 for 3 to 209 all out. Hussain took four for 42 and Vansh Bajaj snared four for 24 as St Giles tore through the order.
Hussain and James Gillespie (32) put on 65 for the first wicket, then Hussain stayed around to partner Will Phelps (36) for 76 runs for the fourth wicket. Opener Hussain finally fell for 79 with the score on 200 for 6, and St Giles got over the line with 10 balls to spare.
Adam Webster and Dougie Rice plundered tons for Foxton Granta in a 184-run win over Stamford Town.
Having elected to bat first, the duo put on 245 for the first wicket.
Webster made 108 off 124 balls, including 13 fours and two sixes, and Rice hit 128, off 123 including 16 fours and four sixes.
Foxton Granta closed their innings on 295 for 4.
Stamford were then bowled out
for 111.
Raj Singh finished with three for 21 off six overs, and Kaif Iqbal snared three for 49 off nine overs.
Richard Bramley’s knock was the foundation of Old Leysians four-run win over Eaton Socon.
They elected to bat first and Bramley scored 62, off 77 including 10 fours, Milan Mniszko made 40 and Dante O’Reilly struck 34, off 35, as Old Leysians were all out for 242.
Jonathon Carpenter took four for 50, then got to work with the bat.
He hit 87 and Keyan Grace smashed 68 but they ran out of overs on 238 for 8, giving Old Leysians victory.
