Pembroke College has announced that Anna Lapwood, who made headlines last year when she gave an impromptu organ lesson to Tom Cruise, will step down as the college’s director of music at the end of the academic year.
Anna plans to devote more time to her career as a concert organist.
She joined the college as its director of music in September 2016 after graduating from Magdalen College, Oxford, where she was its first ever female organ scholar. In 2020, she was elected a bye-fellow of Pembroke.
Her achievements in the post include founding the Pembroke College Girls’ Choir in 2018.
