Astronomy talks follow star performers at returning Cambridge Rock Festival
The Cambridge Rock Festival returns in June and regulars at the family-friendly event will know that in recent years late-night astronomy lectures have been a popular feature.
With rock band Space Elevator, and their flamboyant vocalist The Duchess, playing on the Friday, the organisers felt it was too good a subject to miss, so they have arranged for members of the International Space Elevator Consortium to come along and address those at the event who wish to attend.
As an aside, Space Elevator are being followed on the Ruby Stage by Dare, whose original keyboard player was Professor Brian Cox, and then by the band Cats in Space! The talks are free and start after the music finishes.
This year’s festival is the 17th – it had to be postponed in 2020 and 2021 – and in 2022 it will be taking place for the first time at the East of England Showground in Peterborough, from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19.
The festival has had nationally and internationally-known acts perform on its various stages, but has also taken the opportunity to promote new and local bands too – around 10 Cambridgeshire and Peterborough acts are set to appear this year.
