Lee Cave, who runs Cambridge Vintage Tours, and his vehicle feature in a new Bollywood film, titled Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story, that’s already looking like it might be very successful.

Filming for the movie, which is available now on Disney+ Hotstar in India, took place in Cambridge back in 2021.

Lee can be seen driving the young couple, played by Kaveri Kapur and Vardhan Puri, in his replica 1910 Model T Ford in the trailer (youtube.com/watch?v=AilSl7OCJ1A).

At present, the film is only available to watch in India, but Lee says that viewers over here should be able to stream it on Disney + in the “next three or four weeks”.

On seeing himself in the film, Lee says: “I didn’t know what to expect really, because I knew when we filmed it they had music playing.

“I knew there was no dialogue or anything like that, so it was a bit of a dance scene, if you like, sat in the vehicle.

“We’re in it for a good 15 seconds and, like I said, it’s a scene where they’re singing and then they’re dancing around and then the next thing you know, they’re in the vehicle.

“I’d never been in a Bollywood movie but I am now and it’s quite cool.”

Lee says the film has been very well received in India. “Three weeks ago, if you’d Googled the movie, one or two things came up,” he notes, “if you Google it now, it’s everywhere – it’s bigger than anything I’ve ever seen, movie-wise, it’s crazy!

“The two main people in it are related to Bollywood royalty; it was always going to be a success because of their family name.”

Lee says he has received lots of bookings since the film came out and notes that “about 80 per cent” of them have come from India.

“The day after their premier, it came out on the 11th [of February], my website was just ‘ping ping ping’, and on the dashboard of my computer I can see it’s all people in India,” he says.

“So there are people in India booking tours – I couldn’t believe it, I didn’t expect that so quickly. The amount of bookings that have come in has blown me away, if I’m honest.”
