Cambridge Fringe Festival to return for 2025 edition
Following its success last year, the Cambridge Fringe Festival is to return this May.
The impressive line-up of comedians features the likes of Jordan Brookes, Nick Helm, Hal Cruttenden, Ania Magliano, Spencer Jones, Ria Lina, Glenn Moore, and Helen Bauer, plus many more.
Shows will take place at four venues in Cambridge, all within a two-minute walk of each other at Mitcham’s Corner: The Portland Arms, Thirsty, The Boathouse, and The Waterman. Advance tickets for each show are just £5.50.
This year’s line-up boasts more than 100 comics, including a host of TV regulars, festival favourites and exciting newcomers.
There will be something for everyone, with a wide range of acts covering stand-up, sketch, clowning, musical comedy, improv, and shows for children.
The organisers also recognise the importance of supporting emerging local talent, with several shows and local showcases reserved for up-and-coming Cambridgeshire-based comedians.
Ali Shippey, co-founder of the Cambridge Fringe Festival, says: “I’m really excited for another Cambridge Fringe.
“We started this festival to make great comedy accessible to everyone in the city.
“While the cost of going out has spiralled over the past few years, we’ve kept ticket prices low while maintaining a high-quality, diverse line-up that includes something for everyone.”
Harriet Wells-Martin is co-organiser of Cambridge Fringe Festival and also runs Commoners’ Comedy, which puts on monthly comedy nights at The Portland Arms, with Ali Warwood.
Harriet said: “The Cambridge Fringe is as much about community as it is about comedy.
“All the organisers are locals with day jobs who have given up their spare time to share their passion with the city, while the event itself is held together by much-cherished volunteers, many of whom have been with us since the first Fringe in 2018.
“That spirit extends to the line-up too, with new and exciting local acts sharing a bill with TV names and festival favourites.”
The first show on both Saturday and Sunday (24-25 May) starts at noon, with performances going on until 11pm.
Local comedy-lovers are also invited to join in the fun and volunteer. More details can be found at cambridgefringe.co.uk/volunteer/.
This year marks the sixth edition of the festival.
