Educator Kelley Donner to read from her debut book at Cambridge’s Big Weekend
Artist and educator Kelley Donner's debut book, Ball! Ball! Ball!: A Picture Book to Inspire Sensory Awareness, is about a young boy with autism named Tom, who is fascinated with all things round and enthusiastically points out any object he can find that looks like a ball.
Intended to inspire sensory awareness, the book is dedicated to giving children with special needs and autism better representation in children's literature.
To that end, Kelley will be reading at the Big Read tent on Parker's Piece at Cambridge Big Weekend on Saturday, July 6, at 3.20pm.
Cambridge resident Kelley has worked in the US, Germany and the UK and is currently employed full-time as a writer/illustrator. She is a mother to three sons.
As an advocate for children with special needs and autism, Kelley strongly believes that all children need representation in literature, especially picture books.
She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
