Due to the ongoing uncertainty related to Covid-19, Ely Council has taken the decision not to proceed with the Christmas Lights switch on this year - which was supposed to take place on Friday, November 26.

However, Cllr Sue Austen, the mayor of Ely and chair of the City of Ely Council, said that the council is very much looking forward to providing the Christmas lights illuminations and a Christmas shopping evening where these can be appreciated. More details on this will be revealed in due course.

She also expressed her gratitude to all the volunteers that have helped in ensuring that the switch on event has gone ahead in previous years.
