In pictures: Celebrating 150 years of Cambridge Corn Exchange
The Cambridge Corn Exchange held a special free community open day on Monday (17 February), as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations.
The event included free children’s activities, live performances, and dance and drama workshops – plus technical workshops and guided tours.
Hands-on experiences for adults and children offered in the technical workshops demonstrated aspects of event production, while the guided tours explored the history of the Corn Exchange and provided backstage access.
The event was organised by business and event management students at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), with help from the Cambridge Corn Exchange team.
Ben Hallworth, senior arts development officer at Cambridge City Council, said: “We were privileged to be able to welcome over a thousand people through the doors of the Corn Exchange, which for many would have been their first ever experience of the creative industries.
“Partnering with ARU students made it even more of a success, and we can’t wait to continue celebrating the venue’s 150th anniversary through 2025.”
Meanwhile, free tickets are now available for Cambridge’s first live Augmented Reality events, also taking place at the Corn Exchange, next Monday and Tuesday (24-25 February).
The Cambridgeshire Open RAN Ecosystem (CORE) project, a government-backed initiative led by Cambridgeshire County Council’s digital connectivity programme Connecting Cambridgeshire, in partnership with the Cambridge Corn Exchange, is offering a unique opportunity to experience cutting-edge 5G-powered Augmented Reality (AR) events – for free.
These innovative events will showcase the potential of 5G technology and AR.
Tickets are now available (via tinyurl.com/y5xytx82) and the public are being invited to sign up and take part in what is a world-first trial.
