In pictures: Circus Fantasia, which includes a human cannonball, lands at Midsummer Common, Cambridge
Circus Fantasia, the only circus in the UK – and possibly Europe – to feature a human cannonball, is on now at Midsummer Common in Cambridge and runs until Easter Monday (21 April).
Hailing from Colombia, human cannonball Luis Vargas is fired from the mouth of the monster cannon high into the roof of the big top – at speeds of up to 60mph.
Also appearing are the award-winning Duo Rossi musical clowns from France, while high above the circus ring, Miss Anna swings in on the trapeze.
Simon Deville appears with his crystal tower of tumblers act. Watch carefully as you see how high he can go! Simon also presents his very unique sword and dagger balancing act in the second half of the show.
Female vocalist Miss Camille accompanies the live Circus Fantasia orchestra in parts of the show, and the fantastic Zulu acrobats perform their hat juggling, ladder-balancing, group skipping and tumbling.
The show lasts for approximately two hours, including a short 20-minute interval.
Matthew Wingate, circus manager, said: “It’s a full-time touring circus from February right through to November – every one to two weeks we visit a new location.”
He adds: “It’s a show suitable for all ages, all ethnic groups, the circus is all good fun for everybody.”
Tickets for the circus are available on selected days, from £9.50 on the opening day then from £12 on all other days.
Tickets can be purchased in person at the on-site circus ticket office, open from 10am to 8pm daily, or online at circusfantasia.co.uk.
