There were some interesting designs on show as Cambridge University Charity Fashion Society held its annual fashion show at the Cambridge Union, raising money for four charities.
The outfits worn by the students came courtesy of the following designers: Lucy Docking, Georgia Chang-Evans, Trang Hong, Taja Fraser, MIA, Gia Sun, Tia Weber, Diana Baptista, Abbey Yates, Chillest Ambrosia Jewellery, Nataly Sokolik, Shaunauh Ivers, Klaudia Wypych, Sienna Slade, Tayla Fairey, Syria Torti Alcalde, Clementine, Ying Zhong, Harleen Kaur, Katongola, Tallulah Levoi, Emma Hayward-Higham, Abbey Burke, Edwardina Atonye Peppe, Yusra Adeeb, and Mellonia Gray.
The show, which took place on Friday, 14 March, raised money for mental health charity Sew Positive, eating disorder charity Beat, arts and wellbeing charity Cambridge Curiosity and Imagination, and breast cancer charity Pink Week.
Melissa Santiago-Val, CEO and founder of Sew Positive, said it was “amazing to see the young inspiration of fashion and upcycling, and people wanting to take care about communities and also about textitle waste”.
She added: “Cambridge is the most unequal city in the UK; we’ve got this wonderful university and we forget the disparity between wealth and poverty in our city is really huge, so that was what we were trying to get people to understand at the event.”
