Little Mix opens Newmarket Nights series of concerts
The popular girlband performed at a packed Newmarket Racecourse on Friday, June 23.
Formed in 2011 on the eighth series of X Factor, girl group Little Mix has a sound, attitude and look that appeals to young and old alike.
This was evident at the merchandise stand, where the queue was longer than that for the ladies toilets, with lots of young excited children keen to get their hands on items bearing the image of Perrie, Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade.
The concert didn’t start until 9.25pm, but we got near the front at around 8pm. Lots of people were already sitting around waiting for the band to come on.
The venue was completely packed when the foursome took the stage. This came after about five minutes of the crowd enthusiastically chanting ‘Little Mix!’ and stills of the four pop princesses flashing up on the screen.
The first song of the evening was Power and this was followed during the course of the night by popular hits such as Black Magic, Wings and Move.
While the girls went off for a costume change in the middle of the set, the backing dancers proved to be more than capable of entertaining the crowd.
There was a great atmosphere throughout and the dance routine in the middle of Touch was a moment that went down particularly well.
The main part of the show ended at 10.30 with the crowd chanting “We want more!” The girls duly returned for an encore, finishing with Shout to My Ex, my favourite song!
As we were leaving, I could hear lots of people saying how amazing the concert was – and I would have to agree.
