Surprise one-night Ricky Gervais gig in Cambridge

Comedian Ricky Gervais has announced a surprise one night event at the Cambridge Arts Theatre - which has sold out in just 30 minutes.

However, fans of the star are being encouraged by the theatre to watch their social media as any return tickets to be resold will be announced there first. The one night event is set to take place on Tuesday, May 3.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: “We are hugely excited to be hosting Ricky Gervais at the Cambridge Arts Theatre. He is trying out material for his new tour and announced the tickets on his social media at 10am today - all 666 tickets were sold out within 30 minutes!”

She added that the theatre has been requested not to publicise the event but to allow the announcement to go out on Ricky’s social media alone as a way of stopping ticket touts being alerted.

Ricky Gervais is the creator and star of The Office, Extras, Derek, and the critically acclaimed recent Netflix hit After Life. The show in Cambridge will be a trial of new material for his Armageddon tour later this year. He is being joined by two other, as yet unnamed, comedians.

Anyone still desperate for a ticket should follow The Cambridge Arts Theatre on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
