Twilight at the Museums returns in Cambridge for February half-term 2025

Twilight at the Museums is returning for February half-term, giving families the chance to explore darkened galleries in spectacular lighting.

The programme, organised by the University of Cambridge Museums, features a host of free or low-cost events.

Highlights include a chance to become a night-time explorer at the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences and search for dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, some of whom roamed Cambridgeshire hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Or you could journey to the mysterious underwater realm of Poseidon, god of the sea, at the Museum of Classical Archaeology and try to reunite Greek hero Odysseus with his shipwrecked men in an aquatic adventure.

Cambridge University Botanic Garden’s glasshouse range cam also be explored after dark during a night-time hunt for orchids. And the Museum of Cambridge will light up the past with a special magic lantern display and a chance to make your own Victorian-style lantern.

David Cahill Roots, head of collections’ programmes and collaborations at University of Cambridge, said: “We’re delighted to bring back Twilight at the Museums this half term. Families will be able to experience the magic and excitement of exploring their local museums as the night falls, as well as enjoying hands-on activities, crafts and performances. Remember to wrap up warm and bring your torch to see what you can discover!”

Some events need to be booked, while others are drop-ins.
