What to do with the family in and around Cambridge during the Easter holidays




It’s that time of year when spring is in the air and the Easter holidays have arrived.

Easter egg hunt at Anglesey Abbey

Make your way along the trail and find sheep-themed activities for the whole family at the popular National Trust site.

How far can you throw the farmer’s wellington boot, and can you carry your sheep to safety through the mini-obstacle course?

Come along and take part from now until Monday, 21 April, at 9.30am-5.30pm (last entry for the trail at 4pm).

Normal admission prices plus £3.50 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and chocolate egg.

Shaun the Sheep at Anglesey Abbey

Also at the Abbey are 12 super-sized Shaun the Sheep sculptures standing tall around the gardens. They will be there until 27 April.

Each sculpture has been painted by national and international artists in bright patterns. The Find the Flock trail is put on in collaboration with Wild in Art and Aardman animations.

Easter egg hunt at Wimpole Estate

Find activities for the whole family on this Easter-themed trail which takes place from now until 25 April, from 9.30am to 4pm, with last entry at 3.30pm, so go along and explore.

Prices are £3.50 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and a chocolate egg.

Set against the backdrop of the historic mansion house, other activities include bunny balancing, carrot throwing and egg spotting.

Continue your adventure at Home Farm and say hello to the resident pigs, sheep and Shire horses on your visit.

Zapt Laser Tag at Milton Country Park

For something completely different why not try Zapt Laser Tag, described as “the ultimate action-packed outdoor gaming experience”.

Situated in woodland in Milton Country Park and using state-of-the-art equipment, participants will experience the newest and most exciting outdoor activity in Cambridge.

Days and times are as follows: Saturday, 12 April, Sunday 13 April, Saturday, 19 April. It will be closed on Easter Sunday. For more information, and to book, go to zaptlasertag.com.

Hunt Fun

Looking for something different for a team-building activity or something to do with family, friends or the children this Easter holiday? Well a treasure hunt could be just the thing.

Suitable for all ages, a hunt is easy to organise and a great way to get outdoors and have fun exploring.

Taking place in cities all over the country, the Cambridge hunt starts at the Guildhall. For more, visit huntfun.co.uk.

Fox’s Forgotten Words at Cambridge University Botanic Garden

Flora the Fox is sad. Nature words are disappearing from the English language and she is worried about what will happen if they vanish forever.

Join her this Easter on a quest through the Botanic Garden to track down the lost words. Pick up a free trail map at the ticket office, find all the missing words, and claim a special Easter prize. Suitable for all ages 3+.

Jurassic Arcade at Grand Arcade, Cambridge

The centre’s dinosaur-themed event is coming back this April.

Giant animatronic dinosaurs are now in the Grand Arcade and will be until 23 April. Take part in the trail, meet with baby dinosaurs, discover a T-Rex painted by schools, and enter the various competitions!

Easter egg hunt at Minstrel Court, Cambridge

Come along on 20 April, at 12-3pm at Minstrel Court for an Easter Egg Hunt packed with fun, prizes, and family-friendly activities.

Minstrel Court is a luxurious wedding venue near Cambridge, set against the stunning backdrop of picturesque lake and gardens.

The Easter egg hunt is an adventure for children aged 5 to 11, with plenty of excitement and prizes along the way.

Easter Sunday Easter egg hunt at Burwell Museum & Windmill

Burwell Museum & Windmill is hosting an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, 20 April, at 10am-4pm (last admission 3pm).

Hot cross buns will be on sale in the tea room and the organisers are also holding a raffle during the day with the tickets being drawn at 3.15pm.

The Easter egg hunt is £2 each and there is a chocolate prize for every egg-hunter, even if you don’t finish. Visit burwellmuseum.org.uk.
