Gastrono-Me restaurant set to open Cambridge branch
Gastrono-Me will open a new restaurant in Cambridge in March.
It will open in Bridge Street, taking over the former Bella Italia site.
Inspired by worldwide café cultures, the Bury St Edmunds-based restaurant offers plenty of vegan and vegetarian alternatives.
The eatery serves everything from breakfast and brunch to dinners and cocktails and prides itself on unique dishes such as the Lox Deluxe Bagel Tower, layered with cured salmon, herbed cream cheese and potato rosti, and the Soufflé Egg Wedge, an organic dark chocolate porridge of rolled oats blended with fair trade chocolate, chia seeds, berries and nuts.
Other signature dishes soon to be served to Cambridge residents include the Golden Pain Perdu, American-style pancakes layered with bacon, maple butter sauce and a sunny side up egg as well as cocktails, mocktails and coffee from local roasteries.
The restaurant, which currently has one branch situated on Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmunds, was founded by Mike and Gemma Simmonite, who met in drama school and originally opened a deli and bakery.
Gemma said: “We found our calling in Gastrono-me back in 2011 and are now realising our dream of expanding our business into other parts of the UK.
“We love the historic market town feel we have in Bury St Edmunds, and Cambridge holds that same charm but on a city level.
“It’s the perfect setting for the next stage of our adventure and we’re incredibly excited to become part of the city’s buzzing restaurant culture.”
