Spoonstruck to open ‘proper ice cream shop’ in King’s Parade, Cambridge
Spoonstruck is to open its ‘proper ice cream shop’ in Cambridge this week.
Having built its fan base at local farmers’ markets and events, the company is now opening an ice cream scoop shop, selling high milkfat ice cream and vegan ‘Frozerts’, at 6 King’s Parade.
A free ice cream afternoon - with limited stocks - will take place from 2-6pm on Thursday (22 August) to introduce customers to its products and help train the team, before the shop opens at midday on Friday (23 August).
Spoonstruck says it “isn’t a gelateria” and its “rich and creamy” products are “all made from scratch in small batches using natural, local, and responsibly-sourced ingredients where possible”.
Classic flavours and seasonal offerings will be offered alongside others for more adventurous palates.
To reduce the number of wasteful disposable containers, customers will get a choice of a waffle cone - many of which are handmade - or a bagasse cup, which are biocompostable).
Chief scooper Joseph said he believes quality products and customer service will help the shop compete against the stiff competition in Cambridge.
And he said the business is “keen to become active members of the local community, hiring a local team and giving back where possible”.
