Cambridge Indian restaurants recognised at the 11th English Curry Awards




Indian restaurant Pipasha in Cambridge has won a regional restaurant of the year prize at the 11th English Curry Awards. The Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport-NEC played host to 350 guests last Monday (August 22).

Pipasha, located on Newmarket Road, won the Curry Restaurant of the Year Award for the East of England Region. Abdul Hye, director, said: “We went to the event not expecting anything, but just to have a night out and participate in the celebrations.

“It was a huge surprise and an honour for me and my business partner, Modu Miah, to win this title in our region. We are overwhelmed with all the messages since we have won and will look forward to celebrating with our all of our family, friends and customers soon.”

Also at the awards, Miftaur Rahman Choudhury, head chef and owner of the Lalbagh restaurant in Bourn, won the Lifetime Achievement Award. He said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been recognised by the industry I have served all of my working life. It was a surprise on the night as I had no idea or expectation to win.”
