The shop was officially opened on Friday (December 4) by owner and chocolatier Isabelle Chappell, along with Richard Neil, a supporter and local IT director who has used Chocolat Chocolat for corporate and personal purchases.

Isabelle said: “We were going to do a refit anyway because we’d been in the old place for 11 years – but this opportunity came up at the same time and we thought it was too good to miss.

“The other reason is because we’re making so much of our own chocolate. We used to make it in the front of the shop but we need a production area – so we’ve separated production and selling.”

Isabelle says that previous customers have seen the empty space on St Andrew’s Street and assumed that Chocolat Chocolat had closed down.

“We’ve had so many people saying, ‘Thank God you’re still here!’” she said, adding that the shop’s website has also been relaunched.
