Events and activities aplenty as Histon Feast returns
The Histon and Impington Feast Week, an annual celebration where the villages raise money for the local community, kicks off this Saturday (29 June) and runs until the following Sunday (7 July).
This year’s line-up has something for everyone, including music and art, sports and shopping, breakfast and afternoon teas.
Highlights this year include:
Feast Flower Festival - 29 June-1 July: The annual Flower Festival will be held this year from Saturday to Monday at St Andrew’s Church, Histon.
Charity Art Auction - Monday, 1 July: A celebration of the life and art of Betty Ray, mother of Histon resident Les Ray, at St Andrew’s Centre.
There will be live music by Red Velvet culminating in an auction around 30 of Betty’s works. The paintings preview is from 2.30-4.30pm, followed by the auction, from 7.30-9.30pm. Entry is free, and there are welcome drinks from 7.15pm. View the paintings at feast.hisimp.com/charity-art-auction.
Ping Pong tournament - Tuesday, 2 July: This takes place at 6.30pm at the Recreation Ground. Entry is £3, all ages are welcome, and equipment is provided.
Rounders tournament - Wednesday, 3 July: This adult tournament starts at 6.45pm at Impington Village College and all equipment is provided.
Teams of nine invited, all teams will play at least four games. Entry fee is £22.50 per team. All fees go directly to the 2024 Feast Funds.
Six Inches of Soil film showing - Thursday, 4 July: A free screening of the popular film will be followed by a panel discussion. The showing is from 7-10pm in Saint Andrew’s Centre.

Big Band Concert - Friday, 5 July: Dance the night away on Histon Village Green with the 78 RPM Big Band.
The show is from 7.30-10pm and adult tickets are priced at £8, £4 for under 18s, and children under six get in free. A family tickets is £16. Bring your own food and drink and something to sit on. For more information, email info@histonfeast.co.uk.
Feast Market - Saturday, 6 July: The Feast Market will take place on the village green from 9.30am-12.30pm.
Orchard Breakfast - Sunday, 7 July: Finish the week-long Feast in style at the Community Orchard, behind Manor Park, from 10.30am-12.30pm.
Breakfast will be served from 10.30-noon (bring your own mug, if you can) and other attractions include wildlife photography with Penny Reeves and moths with Ed Turner.
Feast Week Songs of Praise - Sunday, 7 July: Feast Songs of Praise on the theme of ‘Taste and see…’ at St Andrew’s Church, Impington, at 3pm.
