GAIL’s will bake up a stir in Cambridge
Free food will be given away to celebrate the London-based baker’s arrival at The Grafton.
Calling all Cambridge bread lovers! The Grafton has confirmed that London neighbourhood bakery, GAIL’s, will be opening at the shopping centre this Thursday (November 14).
Cambridgeshire will become one of just a handful of locations that the bakery chain has set up outside of London and the arrival of the renowned bread makers has been described as a "massive coup" by centre manager, John O’Shea.
GAIL’s will be located just outside the front entrance of The Grafton off Fitzroy Street and there will be a host of delicious treats given away to the first 100 customers on both Thursday, November 14 and Friday, November 15.
Famed for its range of more than 20 loaves, the bakery opened its first shop in London’s Hampstead High Street in 2005 and has expanded to over 50 bakeries in neighbourhoods in and around the capital.
GAIL’s will also be launching its highly anticipated Christmas collection when it opens in The Grafton, including its renowned mince pies and buns.
The GAIL’s bakers will also introduce its new biscuit Christmas Baubles, which are iced and perfect not just for eating but also for decorating Christmas trees.
This year’s Christmas sandwich is turkey and cheese on waste-less sourdough and, of course, festive bread is a thing - with Christmas-tree stencilled 2kg French dark sourdough as the perfect table centrepiece, and sour cherry and currant sourdough.
John O’Shea said: “This is a massive coup for the shopping centre. GAIL’s will bring a real quality offering to Cambridgeshire – one that you would often associate within London – and I’m thrilled that they have chosen The Grafton and Cambridge as one of just a few locations outside of the capital.
“We have made great strides when it comes to our food offering since the completion of the £28.5million redevelopment earlier this year.
"There’s a big buzz around Food Social since the opening of La Piazza and Chi, who will soon be joined by The Duck Truck, Skewer and The Burger Priest.
"GAIL’s will really add to and complement all those restaurants and food pods in a big way.
“The Grafton has strived to develop and deliver the best unique food offering possible in Cambridgeshire and the arrival of GAIL’s represents another step towards us achieving that.
"We know it will be a massive hit with our local community and shoppers.”
Tom Molnar, GAIL’s CEO and co-founder, added: “We are thrilled to bring our neighbourhood bakery to the community of this historic city.
"The residents and visitors of Cambridge share our passion for tradition, and we think it’s the perfect location to bring our range of handmade bread and all GAIL’s has to offer.”
GAIL’s donate all leftover food to charities and are looking for charities in Cambridge to partner with so get in touch with its team at breadheads@gailsbread.co.uk.
