Honest Burgers Cambridge unveils new Blacksticks Blue Cheese Burger
Honest Burgers, located on Corn Exchange Street, has swapped stilton for blacksticks blue cheese in a new partnership with Lancashire family cheesemakers, Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses.
Butlers found that a third of adults admitted to saying they don’t like blue cheese without having actually tried it, claiming that the way it looked (39 per cent) and having mould on it (44 per cent) as two of the reasons they avoid it.
The burger is simply made with a red onion relish and lettuce, served with Honest’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips. It’s on the menu now at Honest Burgers Cambridge and at restaurants nationwide - and is also available for online delivery.
Honest Burgers head of collaboration Adam Layton said: “The provenance, people and backstory behind a product are really important to us. Butlers is a family dairy making quality farmhouse cheeses and blacksticks blue hits that sweet spot where it satisfies both blue cheese lovers and attracts those who might be scared off by stronger blues like stilton. Blacksticks blue can convert unbelievers to the blue side..."
The verdict
The cheese is wonderfully fragrant and delicious - though personally I'm a big fan of blue cheese generally - and there is certainly nothing 'off' about it, in terms of appearance or smell! It combines beautifully with the red onion relish, creating a divine explosion of tastes within the mouth, that is superbly complemented by the rosemary salt chips.
Rosemary with chips is not something I've ever really had before - I tend to veer more towards paprika or Cajun spices with chips - but it is definitely a rewarding combination. As well as the excellent food, another thing worth mentioning about the Honest experience is the way menus can be instantly downloaded onto mobile phones, saving time and reducing waste.
Ready-to-use blacksticks blue mega burger slices are also available in Waitrose and Spar, and online through the Butlers letterbox cheese store.
