Smashing Plates delivery service launches in Cambridge
Greek restaurateur Neofytos Christodoulou is launching Smashing Plates in Cambridge, a new delivery service with a fresh take on Greek and Cypriot street food classics.
Open all-day and located in Coldhams Road, the kitchen specialises in gyros and boasts a balanced offering of both meat and plant-based dishes packed with the bold Mediterranean flavours for which Greek street food is renowned.
Influenced directly by his Greek-Cypriot heritage, Neo's signature gyros are made using top quality, responsibly sourced meat - butchered in-house, marinated and grilled to order.
All of the produce is delivered fresh every day, and the fragrant chicken, pork, lamb gyros and plant-based alternative features a signature preparation, made to Neo’s family recipe. Marinated in Greek oregano for 24 hours before being seared to order on a chargrill, each wrap is then finished with lettuce, tomato, red onion, parsley and a dusting of smoked paprika.
They are accompanied by a selection of sauces such as Tzatziki, sunblushed chutney and ‘smashing sauce’ - a combination of roasted aubergine and garlic butter.
Also available are a range of salads, including their Greek salad made with tomato, olives, feta, capers, lentil, sweet pepper, beans, pea and olive. Sides include Spanakopita filo roll – their take on the classic Greek dish stuffed with spinach, feta, sprinkled with sesame seeds. To finish there’s a Spiced cinnamon pita and handmade baklava.
Neo said: “Greek hospitality is based around being welcoming and generous – Smashing Plates is my interpretation of how I’ve always wanted to enjoy Greek street food – but made uncompromisingly with the best quality and freshly prepared ingredients we can lay our hands on. I can’t wait to show everyone how gyros should really taste, OPA!”.
Smashing Plates is now open in Cambridge @smashingplatesuk / smashingplates.uk.
